…is a statement that we don’t make lightly, but one we are confident of, and a title we believe we have earned.
Heat Holders are thermal socks which possess a 2.34 tog rating and have been produced using a unique three-stage knitting process. What this means is that our customers can be certain that wearing Heat Holders will keep their feet warm like no other sock has before.
Heat Holders’ reputation has grown tremendously, with over 6 million pairs sold worldwide so far, but our success wasn’t achieved overnight. The creation of such an innovative and high-quality product took years of brain-storming, design and experimentation to get to where we are today.
It started back in 2006, when the term ‘thermal’ was fast becoming associated with ‘budget’. The thermal sock market was being flooded by products which were cheap to make and cheap to buy, resulting in thin socks with poor insulation which were completely redundant in their sole purpose of keeping people’s feet warm.
Appalled that customers weren’t getting what they were paying for, we decided to bring to the market what it was missing - a high-quality, affordable thermal sock that actually worked.
Two years were dedicated to creating this sock, as we re-tooled and completely redesigned our machinery to achieve what we envisaged. Once built, our new machines were able to produce an extra long looped pile, which succeeded in locking in far more warm air close to the skin which is the fundamental key to thermal insulation.
Yarn mixes were routinely tested and discarded until the final blend was discovered - a warm cashmere-like feel that was incredibly soft to touch and comfortable to wear. Finally, we developed our intense brushing process, the method a closely guarded secret to this day which maximises air pockets in turn maximising total warmth, comfort and overall thermal protection.
And we also achieved the scientifically accredited 2.34 tog rating that we are so proud of, which, when you compare to the 0.89 tog rating of an ordinary thermal sock, truly highlights how warm Heat Holders really are and why we call them - "The Ultimate Thermal Sock"
So in 2008 we introduced Heat Holders and by the end of 2009 we had revolutionised the thermal sock market. From our original product the Heat Holders line has grown to include long leg, stripe, slipper, ski and Wellington boot socks, as well as hats, gloves, tights, leggings and thermal under layers. All created with the same underlying belief that warmth comes first. But as the label grows, we never lose sight of our original goal and ultimate achievement – to continue to be the warmest thermal sock in the world.
