Homeless Tampa Couple Finally Get Their Dream Big Day
Most people dream of a fairy-tale wedding, but for Evelyn and Rocky, the idea of a lavish Big Day was a distant dream. But thanks to the kindness of strangers, the pair were finally able to become man and wife.
Homeless for the past three years, Evelyn and Rocky have been living in a tent in the woods in Tampa, Florida, but after their story was broadcast on the news, support for the couple flooded in. Not only was a total of $20,000 in donations raised, they pair have also been placed on a waiting list for permanent housing.
The money raised meant that Evelyn and Rocky were able to have the wedding they have longed for, covering the cost of the marriage licence, as well as tuxedos, hair, makeup, and of course, the bride’s dress. Cross Creek Ranch hosted the event free of charge, and Homemakers of Hope have offered to furnish the couple’s new home, which Evelyn says she can’t wait to start living in, “Yeah, I’m excited. It’s been two and a half years. The only thing I’m gonna miss are my animals… But other than that, I’m ready to go. I’m ready to get settled.”
