2 Year Old Looks into Mothers Eyes for the First Time
Brazilian born toddler Nicolly Pereira was diagnosed with paediatric glaucoma after birth and spent two years of her life in darkness until an innovative surgery changed her life forever.
Despite seven unsuccessful surgeries Nicolly’s mother never lost her faith that her daughter would see the world as everyone else does and so took to social media to share the story. More than 30,000 people from around the world followed Nicolly’s mother’s mission.
The story warmed the hearts of one Miami user in particular who contacted the Jackson Health Foundation’s International Kids Fund (Wonderfund). Partnered with local charity The Kevin Garcia Foundation they raised more than $17,000 to pay for Nicolly to have surgery at the best eye hospital in the USA, Bascom Palmer.
Emotions flooded the room as Nicolly’s mother held her in her arms and looked into her eyes, a look that for the first time in two years was returned- alongside a beaming smile!
