Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian fans!
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Day! Taking place on the second Monday in October, Canadian Thanksgiving Day is an annual Canadian holiday which celebrates the harvest and other blessings of the past year. It is a time when families and friends can gather and celebrate all the good that had happened in the year.
Canadian thanksgiving corresponds to the English and continental European Harvest festival in which churches are decorated with pumpkins, corn, wheat sheaves, and other harvest bounty.
Despite the actual Thanksgiving holiday being on a Monday, Canadians usually gather for their Thanksgiving feast on any day during the long weekend. It is also often a time for weekend getaways and family trips.
Like to the United States, traditions such as parades and football can be a part of Thanksgiving in Canada. The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest parade is the most widely known Thanksgiving Day parade in Canada, and is broadcast nationwide. In addition to this, the Canadian Football League holds a nationally televised doubleheader, which is considered the Thanksgiving Day Classic.
As we know the winter is drawing in close and many see Canadian Thanksgiving as a start to the Christmas holiday season; the time when people start thinking about Christmas shopping! Remember that Heat Holders can be the perfect stocking filler or thoughtful present for your loved ones, with a host of reasons to be outside enjoying the icy weather!
