Green, Gold and Shamrocks – It must be St. Patrick’s Day!
May the luck of the Irish be with you – and a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Perhaps more recognised as the ‘day to wear green’ in recent years, St. Patrick’s is a national day of the Irish that celebrates the culture and arrival of Christianity in Ireland.
Festivals and parades will be enjoyed throughout the world on March 17th as New York hosts its annual Fifth Avenue parade.
If you can’t make it to Ireland this year then get involved with your local parades and learn some Irish dialect to get yourself in the mood! ‘What’s the craic?’ is a classic Irish phrase that will impress your friends.
Pubs enjoy the busiest times of the year, as the sound of Irish music, songs and dances create fantastic atmospheres, inviting everyone to have a drink together!
In true Irish tradition, the ‘drowning of the shamrock’ takes place at the end of the night and sees the person remove the shamrock from their clothing and put in the final drink of the evening.
Remember to keep warm and cosy at the end of the night!
