Jilted Washington bride turns a negative into a positive for others
When Washington bride Dana Olsen’s fiancée got cold feet six weeks before The Big Day, she was faced with the decision of cancelling her wedding plans and losing the money she’d invested in her dream day.
However, Olsen came up with an inspiring way to not only make use of the lavish arrangements at SoDo Park she had spent much of 2015 preparing, but also took the opportunity to do something truly special for those less fortunate to enjoy. Olsen and her family joined forces with Mary’s Place Shelter in Seattle and invited 150 underprivileged individuals to a fabulous party. The delicious dinner and live band that had been planned for Olsen’s 250 reception guests will now entertain 42 homeless women and their children, who will also be treated to a stylist on the night to assist with hair and makeup, alongside the generous jewellery and dress donations that have been made.
“I just want it to be really fun,” Olsen selflessly explained, “I mean, if we can’t have a good night, I hope they can have a great time.”
