Students serenade teacher during his cancer fight
Teachers can touch our lives in a way that we don’t always realize and it sticks with us for the rest of our lives. Students at Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville won’t forget just how much they were affected by a single teacher’s continuous encouragement throughout their schooling.
Sadly in 2015, Latin teacher Ben Ellis was diagnosed with esophageal cancer which recently spread to his lungs. To show their support through his illness, 400 students arrived at his home in the form of a choir to serenade him.
"It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my entire life," said Nate Morrow, headmaster at the school where Ellis works. "He is one of the kindest and intentionally loving people I've ever met in my life. I think that's what really characterizes him. He's always pursuing other people in wanting to get to know them and love them.”
