When it’s cold outside, what you wear closest to your skin matters most. A smart base layer doesn’t just add warmth—it keeps heat in, wicks moisture away, and helps your whole outfit work better. Whether you’re heading out for a walk, getting active outdoors, or just trying to stay cozy indoors, choosing the right thermal underwear can make all the difference.
Let’s explore the different types of Heat Holders® base layers and how to pick the perfect one for your winter lifestyle.
Why Base Layers Matter
A base layer is your first line of defense against the cold. It helps regulate your body temperature by trapping warm air and moving sweat away from your skin. But not all base layers are made the same. Some are better for staying still in very cold conditions. Others are designed for movement, breathability, and heat retention during high activity.
Heat Holders® base layers are designed to cover all those needs—with soft materials, smart warmth technology, and a focus on all-day comfort.

Pro Tips for Layering Smart
-
Start with the right base. Your base layer sets the tone for comfort.
-
Avoid cotton. It traps moisture and loses warmth. Heat Holders® fabrics keep you dry and cozy.
-
Layer by activity. The more you move, the lighter the base layer you need.
-
Think about your whole day. Will you be active, sitting still, or both? Choose the base layer that matches your full routine.
Stay Warm Without the Bulk
Whether you’re breaking a sweat, enjoying a peaceful winter walk, or keeping cozy inside, there’s a Heat Holders® base layer made just for you.

And for your outer layer – a good down filled coat or jacket – I wear my HH Alberto under, with a sherp lined flannel shirt – then DOWN. I have down jackets, full length coats and a ALASKA fur lined/hooded parka. Rated to keep you warm standing still at -35!!! Living in upstate NY next to the Adirondacks – you need the right clothing to keep warm and comfortable. HH holder thermal socks in my insulated boots keep the feet warm when snowmobiling, etc. Keep warm everyone!!! Happy Winter!!!
